About Southdown

Things we've been unable to achieve in isolation we CAN do together in cooperation

Taking responsibility together for the Southdown region...

Making a difference, in partnership, with others who want to see Christian values in our society.

So, Southdown is essentially a prophetic movement consisting of churches, initiatives and individuals working together for the life and well being of communities throughout the South Downs...

To all Southdowners

On behalf of all those involved with Southdown, I would like to express a very big  THANK YOU …

…to Rusty, David, Charlotte, Jonny, Kev, Steph, Paul, Richard, Chas & all who have facilitated the Southdown Worship Events with such an obvious gifting and devotion over the last 3 years or more. These have been significant times which have invoked a real sense of God’s presence and a valuable opportunity to connect with one another across the area.

Southdown became a catalyst for God’s people to relate and cooperate across the area. Together we have sought to encourage, facilitate and sometimes organise events and initiatives such as celebrations, the roundtable, the wave, prophetic and intercessory prayer support from village to village, including the significant impact of a Seeds for Revival team … Unity, One Accord, Splash! Liaise and other community initiatives, to name but a few, are all examples of what can happen when we pull together in the spirit of cooperation to facilitate something that otherwise may have stumbled if we had merely tried to do it in “our own back yard”.

To follow Rusty’s encouragement on Sunday… its not our intention to continue organising regular events and meetings, but in the spirit of all that God has been teaching us in the Southdowns, if there is something to celebrate, a specific need to gather, to seek God’s face and pray, a season when we need to be releasing fresh prophetic insight, an area of ministry or teaching we need to explore together… if there’s a mission initiative you are exploring in your group, your church, or your community of which you would like us all to be aware, or in which you would like to involve others from a wider area, do make it your first thought to get in touch with others across the area to discuss the possibilities. A phone call, an email, skype, facebook, a chat over lunch or a drink with a “significant other” can make all the difference. I, for one, would be more than happy to chat through any such initiative with you and share it as appropriate across the relational connections of the Southdowns.

I was so aware on Sunday that we all carry the presence of God wherever we are involved. God’s anointing rests upon us. We are a holy people and a royal priesthood, who belong to God. Throughout the years of our journey together God has given us so many glimpses of what he intends for us.  Every one of us can potentially spark a new day and a fresh expression of God’s kingdom, by hearing from God, responding to what he says and sharing it with another.

Blessings

John R
